Player's Overview

WORK IN PROGRESS
Hector Larkgrave had a relatively normal childhood, helping his father, Nathaniel Larkgrave, his mother, Anna Larkgrave, and his twin brother, Garabon, run the family farm in southern Lordaeron. Because there was little time to socialize outside the farm, the two brothers shared an incredibly close-knit bond. The two were nearly inseparable as children, and it came as a shock to no one that when Garabon showed a strong affiliation for the Light, that Hector would soon show just as strong an ability. The two brothers seemed destined to become powerful Paladins, and devout Champions of the Light. The Larkgrave family scraped together every coin they could, and sent the two brothers to the Capital to begin their studies.

During their training, however, the two brothers began to show their differences. While Hector showed a tendency towards Holy spells and healing, Garabon became a master of a Paladin's offensive repertoire. Garabon began to become aloof, throwing himself completely into his studies, and severed all ties with his family back on the family farm. Hector, however, refused to do so, and kept in constant contact with his parents. When news reached Hector of a mysterious illness befalling his mother, he quickly attempted to return home, and convince Garabon to come with him. Garabon refused, and Hector returned home alone. By the time he had arrived, it was too late. The farm, once full of life, was abandoned and decayed. The Plague of Undeath had begun its terrible scourge of Lordaeron, and it had claimed both of Hector's parents. Horrified, Hector fled back to the Capital.

Throughout the Third War, Hector and Garabon both fought on numerous battlefields, attempting, and ultimately failing, to hold off the Scourge. When all hope seemed lost, the brothers reached a crossroads. Their Prince, Arthas Menethil, had gathered an army to march on Northrend, the alleged source of the Scourge. Garabon eagerly joined him, while Hector, tired of all the death he had seen, declined, and travelled to Elwynn Forest, where he started a small farm of his own. He pleaded with Garabon to join him, but his twin was adamant about punishing those responsible for his homeland's destruction. This would be the last time the brothers ever spoke as they once were.

News reached Hector in Elwynn of the final fate of Arthas' expedition, and he believed his brother dead. He became reclusive, and focused purely on his farm, shunning all contact with the outside world. Five years passed...and war reared its ugly head and found Hector once again. The Scourge began attacking the capital cities of the Horde and Alliance, and Hector found himself defending his farm against the Undead with the assistance of a militia formed by the surrounding farms from Elwynn and Westfall. The battle was one-sided, the undead falling almost too easily before the militia. Hector found that he could still use the Light, although his abilities were severely dimished, both from lack of use and his own diminished faith.

Just when the undead seemed utterly routed, however, a new threat appeared: a Death Knight. The unholy Knight cut through the militia easily, raising those he slew into undeath, and bulstering his own rotted ranks. Soon, Hector was all that remained. The Undead overwhelmed him, and he was brought to his knees, but the killing blow never came.

Instead, the Death Knight extended his hand to the stunned farmer. Hector stood and spat on the helm of the Death Knight, who in response simply removed it. Hector was stunned to find himself looking at his twin, or rather, a dark caricature of who his twin had once been. Pale and gaunt, Garabon introduced himself as Garathaz, Death Knight of the Scourge, and extended his hand once again, offering Hector a place as a fellow Herald of the Lich King. Hector was horrified, and refused, instead picking up his sword and rushing his brother. Garathaz shattered the sword and threw Hector with one blow of his cursed Runeblade. Dissapointed in his brother's “ignorance”, Garathaz spared Hector's life, and instead told him to find him in Northrend, where the two could settle their differences. Before he departed, Garathaz revealed a horrible truth: He had heard the Lich King's call long before his merge with Arthas, and had served the Cult of the Damned. In fact, it had not been the plague that claimed the life of Nathaniel and Anna Larkgrave, but their own son. With this, Garathaz returned to the Necropolis looming overhead, and returned with it to Northrend when the Scourge were seemingly driven back.

Hector traveled north to Northshire, to restart his training as a Paladin, and to once again battle the Scourge, and ultimately, face and defeat his brother in Northrend.
